Powers of the Slovak Information Service result directly from the Slovak Information Service Act. The Act regulates: · tasks - (Paragraph 2 of the Act), · authorizations to request assistance, data and information - (Paragraph 15 – 16 of the Act), · authorization to maintain its own files (Paragraph 17 of the Act). Authorization to use special techniques results directly from the SIS Act as well as the Protection against Wiretapping Act 166/2003 Coll. passed by the Parliament of the Slovak Republic. Some acts specify further tasks of the Slovak Information Service, for instance the Classified Information Protection Act 215/2004 Coll. passed by the Parliament of the Slovak Republic sets out the scope of the SIS activities as a central state body in its vetting of individuals who should have access to state secrets or in issuing permissions to take aerial photographs of the Slovak territory. As an employer, the Slovak Information Service follows the applicable regulations of the Labour Code and in relation to its officers it acts as an service office under the Act 73/1998 Coll. on the State Service of the Officers of the Police Corps, SIS, Prison Guard Corps and Railway Police passed by the Parliament of the Slovak Republic. |
